3) Product Spotlight � Business Elite Services � How Keywords & Short Codes work together?
In order to use our text marketing product you need to first understand how to reserve a keyword. A Keyword is a unique phrase that a consumer can use to interact with a business via a short code. A Keyword is unique to its short code. This means that you might see the same Keyword used on different short codes. Short codes are nearly universal in the United States. All major carriers recognize our short code, which is 55469. Keywords work when they are paired with a short code. A customer will use their mobile phone to send a text message to a short code.

The best way to understand how keywords work with short codes is to try it yourself. How would you do this? Well as an example from your mobile phone, text the word Joes to 55469. In this example, Joes is a Keyword, and 55469 is the shared 5LINX short code. Once you send the message, you should receive the following reply in less than a minute:

Joes Pizza: U R now a preferred text member! Show this for 20% off your next order. Reply STOP to End.

In this example, a (fictional) restaurant called Joe�s Pizza has sent out a mobile coupon to anyone who texted Joes to 55469. Mobile coupons are a great way to build up your SMS marketing list if you�re just starting out. Numerous studies have shown that customers are eager to receive marketing text messages when they are offered an incentive.
